We’ve come to the end of our look at equine obesity.
Weight loss can be a slow process and require big management changes but the benefits by far justify the effort.
Remember that for every kg of fat seen on the outside, there will also be another kg of fat on the inside and that fat will burn first. So don’t be disheartened if your horse does not seem to be losing much weight. Make note of his body score and weight every 2 to 4 weeks and we promise you will soon see some change!
From Jack, Marcus, Archie and our team of vets, good luck with your weight loss programme! We’d love to see some before and after pictures of your success stories – please share in the comments below.
If you are unsure about anything or if your horse is young, old, pregnant or suffers from any medical conditions, please pick up the phone and speak to your vet before embarking on a weight loss diet. We are always happy to help keep patients healthy!
